Chiru swaps black shirt for white kurta

Hyderabad: After months of suspense, dithering and denial, megastar Chiranjeevi made it clear on Monday that he is entering politics.

Swapping his trademark black half shirt for a white kurta symbolising his new avatar, the actor whose real name is Konidala Sivasankara Varaprasad, said he would announce his plans next week. The actor inaugurated his party office on Road Number 46 at Jubilee Hills.

Political observers feel that the entry of Chiranjeevi into politics is likely to change the political equations in the state. With a strong presence of the Kapu community (to which he belongs) in the coastal region and the likely rallying of the backward classes all over the state behind him, the actor has the potential of seriously challenging the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party, the two biggest entities in the state.
